About Wheat
Wheat is one of the leading Scandinavian fashion lifestyle brands for children. We are passionate about creating clothing, footwear and accessories that combine timeless design, comfort, and responsible production. For more than 25 years, we have designed products with great care and attention to detail. Our collections build on a long-standing Danish design tradition, where one of our most important signatures is our unique universe of hand-drawn prints. We are committed to doing business responsibly, balancing people, planet and profit and continuously working to reduce our environmental footprint while creating products made to last. Today, Wheat is powered by an international team of 50+ colleagues with headquarters in our office in Gentofte (Greater Copenhagen), and local offices or showrooms in Munich, Hamburg, Oslo and London. We believe that diversity of perspectives strengthens creativity, innovation and decision-making and we strive to build a workplace where everyone feels respected, included and able to contribute.
We are looking for a experienced Buyer to join our Buying & Supply Chain team.
This role is based out of the Head Office in Gentofte with occasional travel to visit suppliers and partners expected.
You will report directly to our Head of Buying, and work in close collaboration with our Design, Sales, and Supply Chain teams.
As Wheat’s new Buyer, you will be responsible for developing and executing our product assortment strategy across categories. You will play a key role in driving commercial performance through strong product selection, supplier relationships, and data-driven decision-making with a particular focus on our outerwear and technical product categories, where complexity and quality requirements are growing.
You will be joining a formidable growth journey that will allow you to strengthen Wheat’s leadership in our key markets.
If you are commercial, detail-oriented, and passionate about great product, with a genuine interest in how sustainability and compliance are shaping the future of fashion you will find at Wheat the right environment to thrive and develop.
Key responsibilities
- Build and manage seasonal assortment plans across categories in line with brand strategy, commercial targets, and trend direction.
- Collaborate closely with Design and Pattern Making on product development, fits, and range architecture.
- Manage and develop supplier relationships, including price negotiations, MOQs, lead times, and delivery performance.
- Conduct supplier visits and factory follow-ups as needed.
- Take a leading role in our outerwear and technical product categories — an area of growing commercial importance and increasing complexity at Wheat.
- Understand and apply technical fabric and construction requirements, certifications, and performance standards relevant to children’s outdoor clothing and footwear.
Ideally, you bring some experience working with certifications, compliance requirements, and ESG-related documentation — an area that is becoming an increasingly important part of our everyday work and a strategic priority going forward.
A familiarity with relevant legislation, chemical and material regulations, and sustainability standards (e.g. OEKO-TEX, GOTS, GRS, EU textile regulations) is a real plus, and we’ll support you in growing it further.
Qualifications
- 2–5+ years of buying or product management experience within fashion or lifestyle. Children’s wear or outerwear a strong advantage.
- Experience with outerwear, technical garments, or footwear is a significant plus — you understand the product complexity and what it takes to get it right.
- Knowledge of certifications, compliance frameworks, and ESG-related requirements in the textile or fashion industry is highly valued.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with sell-through data, margin calculations, and seasonal performance reporting.
- Experience managing supplier relationships, price negotiations, and critical path coordination.
- Structured, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple seasons and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
What we offer
